Welcome to the Kamloops Flying Club
The Kamloops Flying Club has been a focus of aviation activities in Kamloops for the past 40+ years. In 2000 we became COPA Flight 82 with our association with the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association. Through this relationship we have been involved with the COPA for Kids events which introduces our youth to the world of general aviation.
Every year we engage our fellow clubs in and around the province to host several fly-in events as well as fly-outs to their hosted events.
Join the Kamloops Flying Club to add your voice to the needs of General Aviation in Kamloops
Membership in the club is $60/year. Our meetings are the first Monday of the month at 20:00hrs that is not a statutory holiday. If we are having a speaker meetings start at 19:30hrs. Notice of speakers will be emailed and noted on the Flying Events Calendar.
Spring is in the air.. Time to wake up your bird and get out flying.
This year we will be organizing regular fly-out dates for club members who are available to participate. We have around 20 planes in the club presently with a lot of empty seats so no excuse for any member wishing to participate to get a ride. The general fly-out calendar will be updated shortly with all of the usual fly-out breakfasts available during the spring to fall time frame. The flying club should be just that... Getting out to interesting places with group participation.
COPA for Kids Event
We had another successful COPA for Kids event this past Sunday. A total of 38 youth were flown with 6 aircraft helping. We also had great assistance from the Black Maria Squadron Cadets. They also had an opportunity to get up with our pilots. Thanks to all who helped make this a successful event. The weather was perfect. We look forward to an equally successful event on September 19, 2015.
Last weekend there was a fly-out to Vargas Island located 10 nm north of Tofino. 18 planes and a helicopter landed on the beach between 11:00 and 12:30. Flight conditions were perfect and the beach landing was firm and smooth. Lots of driftwood to make a fire and roast hot dogs. After several hours of meeting pilots and friends from the lower mainland and a wonderful beach walk we headed back to Kamloops with an equally smooth and quick flight. Clearly a destination for a number of Kamloops Flying Club members to return to this summer. Below are a few pics and check out the short video of the departure from Vargas Island.
We look forward to a stronger and more active club this year. Please come out to offer your support to the club.
